Solar Water Heaters
Solar water heaters heat your water using only the sun.
The first solar water heater was invented by Horace De Saussure in the 1760s. Solar water heaters are made of copper pipes inside of a metal box. The copper pipes are all connected at the end of the pipes. On top of the box is a piece of glass. When the sun's heat strikes the metal box, it goes inside of the glass and gets stuck inside of the box. Water circulates through the copper pipes and gets heated by the sun’s rays. When the water flows out of the solar water heater it is really hot. You have to keep the solar water heaters clean so that more of the sun’s heat can reach the water. The hot water can then be kept in a tank to stay warm. Using solar water heaters will give you hot water for free.
